In truth, myths are being created every day, as cultural moments are interpreted and re-interpreted in real-time – today, with the advent of not only mass media but also social media, myth-making has become an evolving and powerful force.

Wu Jian'an and Tiger Chengliang Cai are both fascinated by myths and legends.

Wu's work often takes ancient myths and re-imagines specific scenes in his unique style of digital 'paper-cut' characters. Tiger looks to ideologies and allegory – how humans use myth to explain complex issues such as death and the afterlife, for example – which manifest themselves in symbolic forms in his art: buildings, a cargo ship, and a haunting goldfish.

Both artists were recently part of the landmark NFT exhibition at UCCA (Ullens Center for Contemporary Art) in Beijing and Shanghai called Virtual Niche — Have you ever seen memes in the mirror? which also featured works by Beeple, Robert Alice, Mario Klingemann, Robbie Barrat, Pak, and others.

Excited to continue their exploration of this new medium of expression, both Wu Jian'an and Tiger Chengliang Cai see a new world of possibilities within the 'meta-verse' of the NFT community – a mythical world that has become a reality.
