Tie-dye is an intangible cultural heritage of China, called Za Xie (扎缬), Jiao Xie (绞缬), Jia Xie (夹缬), or Ran Xie (染缬) in ancient times. It occured to the artist that the process of tying is like creating private keys in the crypto world, and the process of dyeing is like creating public keys based on the private keys. Inspired by this, she learned from Xiang Zhang, an inheritor of the Bai style tie-dye techniques, and practised tie-dyeing in a traditional tie-dye factory in Dali, a southwestern city in China.

The use of chemical dyes and the production of artificial fibers in the global fashion industry has imposed enormous pollution on the natural environment. Artist wants to preserve the gem of classic techniques with blockchain technology and spread the idea of sustainable development.
